Communication is the breath of our nation

Communication comes in so many different forms. From body language, non-verbal “cues”, and telepathy, to laughing, screaming, and singing softly. We as humans have a vast array of communication forms that we can make use of.

Despite our vast range of communication options, if you don’t have a grasp of linguistics, your lifestyle is likely to diminish. Do yourself a favor and read a book or two every once in awhile. As you continue to read those books or even if you listen to audiobooks, you’ll come to a realization…

Words have weight! Sometimes tangible, sometimes intangible, but always noticeable. Carefully choosing the right words is a skill, that will greatly benefit your life and the lives of those around you forever! (Oh yes it will…) One simple example is dropping the word “can’t” from your vocabulary.

In all honesty you don’t know what you CAN’T do, so drop that word from your vocabulary. (For the most part…) If someone ask you to do something foolish, feel free to dig that word out from it’s grave, and hit that person with, I CAN’T… If you want to handle things even more powerfully say I WON’T. This is a definitive statement of action and not a statement of ability. That is the big difference. We as humans often talk in ways that we are familiar with, but don’t readily say what we mean.

Words have weight, say what you mean, and mean what you say.

The oldest form of contract was your word.

The bible (though I’m not religious) is called the word. The only thing you can give and keep at the same time, is your word. WORDS HAVE POWER, use that power wisely. They can scorn or uplift, bury someone or bless them with a gift. Be mindful with your vocabulary, and always think BEFORE you speak… (Yes, BEFORE you speak… That might be a newsflash to some, but a way of life to others.)

Words are integrity, and you receive admiration, trust, and loyalty, from the people around you if you keep your word.

So I ask you, to whom are you not keeping your word (yourself, your child, your boss)? Or, in what area(s) of life are you not keeping your word (health routines, time management, finance)?

Rather than ask yourself WHY and potentially lead you down a rabbit hole of self-loathing and personal pity. Let’s talk about WHAT we are going to change, and HOW.

— ACTION STEPS —
1) Identify two people in your life that you have made a promise to, that you broke…

2) Call one of those people and apologize.. Tell them you’re making a change for the better and you want to bring the on the journey with you.
